Greg's Birthday!

I usually post photos and updates of the kids, but Greg and I had a really fun day (by ourselves) that I wanted to share.  Both of our birthdays fell on a Friday this year, so we decided we would take those days off of work, and plan a day of birthday surprises for the other on their birthday.  Friday was Greg's birthday, and we had a great time celebrating (thanks to MamaSu who took care of the girls after school).

It all started with breakfast at West End Bakery (cinnamon rolls and coffee).  After that, we drove to Biltmore Estate for a surprise off-road Segway tour for two hours!

It was so much fun - the weather was perfect, the views were beautiful, and the Segways were FUN!  Look in the background of this photo, and you can see the Biltmore House.

From there, we went to the west side of the Estate for a private shooting lesson.  While we both hit many of our targets (we were skeet shooting), Greg quickly excelled and hit some very challenging shots.  I think this was his favorite event of the day.

We finished the lesson around 2:00, and were starving!  We stopped at a nearby Mexican restaurant, and refueled with tasty margaritas, quesadillas, and guacamole.

We then traveled to a local brewery (Highlands Brewery) for a tour and beverage.  We had some good friends meet us there - a surprise for Greg!

Finally, we came home and put the girls to bed.  After that we headed to The Admiral (a dive bar that has fine dining in the evening - it's delicious, and you must make reservations at least a month prior because it's so small and has a great reputation!)  It did not disappoint.

I think we'll continue the tradition of planning the other's birthday surprise from now on.  It's really fun to plan a special day for the other, and we both enjoy each birthday!  By the way, if you're curious about what Greg planned for my birthday in March, it involved The Spa at Grove Park Inn, followed by lots of chocolate.
